10 Items An Organized WFH Office Needs

1. A DESK WITH DRAWERS

A desk with drawers will allow for smaller and multiple items to be tucked away. Small items like paper clips, push pins, Post-Its, scissors, etc can be organized in a drawer with different sized drawer organizers. That's more desk top space for whatever you are working on... and your cup of coffee!

There are so many choices available, but think about your needs: ergonomic or something to match your decor; with or without arms; high back or mid back; on casters or on legs. Whichever you choose, make sure it is something you can sit in for 8-10 hours.

3. A LAPTOP OR DESKTOP

One you buy, or one the employer provides. If your employer supplies one, even better! Remember to follow all the company guidelines on their expectations of your use: in other words no shopping! lol

4. RELIABLE INTERNET

It would be terrible if you cannot be seen or heard during a virtual meeting. Or it seems like you're "offline" when you are working. And let's not mention losing what you are working on and having to start all over!

5. A DESK LAMP

A desk lamp allows for task lighting on the area you are working on to relieve any strain on your eyes from looking at a screen all day.

6. A FILE CABINET

A small or large file cabinet can do 2 jobs: file papers and hold a printer on top. However, you can also buy a desktop file holder if there isn't a great need, or you're short on space.

7. A CALENDAR OR PLANNER

Do you like to use your phone, the computer calendar your employer provides, or to jot things down (like me)? Whichever you use, make sure it is the most efficient for work. No need to use multiples for work duties and tasks. You may end up entering the information in one and not the other. Always comply with any company protocol.

This one can also be considered another option to #7. Pin boards are great for quick notes you write so they're not accumulating on your desk. Dry erase boards could be a place you write down the plan for the day and week. You can place papers or pictures with a magnet on it too!

9. A GOOD SHREDDER

A shredder that crosscuts 4 pages or more at the same time are the minimum features to look for. Now that it's September, you can find deals in office supply stores, and major chain stores.

10. OFFICE ACCESSORIES

This one is actually a cheat because it's multiple items: pens, pencils, paper clips, stapler, scissors, file folders or hanging file folders. Desk top items like paper drawers, or letter trays lets you prioritize your workload.
